2018 Essex County Levels Competition

A quartet of medallists and fantastic results for Harlow Gymnastics club at the Essex County Levels competitions in Colchester. The 34 competing club gymnasts were awarded their respective level in the county event, challenging gymnasts from all the top-flight clubs in Essex. Leading on from the individual level events, the club also triumphed at the levels team competitions, with the level 4 and level 5 teams both securing bronze medals.

The first individual medals were awarded to Lois Covill (8) and Eliza Swanepoel (10) in the level 6 age 9/10 competition. Lois received the overall silver medal as well as silver medal for beam, in addition to 5th and 6th place rosettes for bar and vault. Eliza won the overall bronze medal, received bronze medal on beam and 4th & 6th place rosettes for vault and bars. As overall competition medallists, the duo qualify to represent Essex at the regional final. Also in the level 6 event, Sydni Barker (10) finished in 17th overall and received 6th place rosette on floor, with Kara Mcmahon (10), Tamzin Mason (9), Eloise Moulds (10) and Calleigh Brownjohn (9) placing 16th, 20th, 24th & 25th respectively.

The next medal was awarded in the age 10/11 level 4 event to Miley Shulton (10) who won silver medal on bars and placed 8th overall. Selene Virga (10) placed 5th on floor and finished in 13th place overall. In the same event, teammate Millie Lynch (10) placed 14th, with Summer Dolan (10) 16th.

Hermione May Mellor (8) was awarded 5th place rosette on floor to finish in 18th place overall in the level 6 age 8 competition. Milana Lawrence (8), Lola Manuel (7), Grace Quick (8) and Renee Stewart (8) placed 17th, 19th, 20th and 22nd respectively.
Further medal joy for St Marks student Elena Dumitria (12) in the level 6 age 11+ event, with a bronze medal on floor as well as placing 4th on beam, 5th on vault and 6th on bars to finish in 4th position overall. Lucie Macintyre (11) won the overall 6th place rosette.

In the level 5 age 12+ event, Ellie Kenway (13) was awarded two 4th place rosettes for floor and vault, finishing in 10th overall. Emily Forey (9), Grace Hoskin (8) and Amy Abery (9) placed 9th, 10th and 12th in the level 5 age 9 event.

Isabelle Macarthy (10) and Ellie Hodges (10) both secured 6th place rosettes on floor to finish in 8th and 9th position overall in the level 5 age 10/11 event. Alex Gronert (10) took the 5th place rosette on vault, finishing in 25th place overall. Miley Bex (9), Connie Allen (10), Mia Brine (10), Amelia Palmer (10), Ruby Barker (10), Aimee Cullen (11), Honey Gillick (10) and Skye Girolami (10) finished in 17th, 20th, 25th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 32nd place in the same event.

Competing in the level 7 teddy bear invitational event, Genna Lee (7) placed 5th on bars and finished in 9th place overall.

Miley Shulton, Millie Lynch, Selene Virga, Summer Dolan along with gymnast returning from injury, Kacey Butler (12) made up the level 4 bronze medal winning team. The level 5 team comprising Ellie Hodges, Isabelle Macarthy, Miley Bex, Connie Allen and Ellie Kenway were also awarded team bronze medals.
