Athletics: Elven caps fine year with 10 Mile PB

ANYONE who has followed the progress of Harlow Running Club athlete Martin Elven will be impressed by his dedication over the last few years., so it is good to hear that he has capped the year of 2018 with an impressive PB over ten miles.
It should also be mentioned that sometimes, Martin finishes work, goes straight to organising long sessions with Harlow Rock School and then after a few hours sleep runs the hard yards. A true Harlow community champion.
SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members took part in the Bass Belle 10 Mile race at Bassingbourn near Royston, so named because Bassingbourn was the wartime home base of the famous Memphis Belle Flying Fortress bomber. First home was Jim Martin in 19th place out of 369 finishers and 2nd Vet 40 in a personal best (PB) time for the distance of 1hr 06min 07sec. He was followed by Martyn Coulter 21st in 1.06.52 (PB), Ben Usher 24th in 1.07.41, Nick Ryley-Warren 45th in 1.13.14, Paul Schroder 54th in 1.13.57 (PB), Carinne Jay 71st and 1st Female Vet 45 in 1.16.20, Graham Saville 84th and 2nd Vet 60 in 1.17.42 (PB), Martin Elven 85th in 1.18.05 (PB), Laura Prime 135th in 1.24.40, Vanessa Bull 137th in 1.25.01 (PB), Wendy Schroder 161st in 1.27.51, Debbie Barry 195th in 1.31.17 and Dean Bull 251st in 1.37.56.
Meanwhile at the Hatfield 5 Mile race Nick D’Alton finished in 115th place out of 657 finishers in 34.36 (PB), Helen Barnes-Martin was 464th in 48.14 (PB), Paula Miles 476th in 48.40 (PB), Debra Monk 501st in 50.05 and Michael Gornall 560th in 51.46.
At the Benidorm 10K Lindsey Pearson finished in 1.03.13.
At Harlow parkrun Martin Westley finished in 2nd place out of 184 finishers in 18.48. He was followed home by Andy Terrell 7th in 21.11, Alan Broughton 8th in 21.30, Catherine Ridge 11th in 21.52, Andy Kitson 20th in 22.36, Terry Ridge 23rd in 23.10, Richard Fryer 29th 23.31, Ryan Smith 30th in 23.36, Bobby Draper 33rd in 23.57, Ben Usher 35th in 24.00, John Bull 36th in 24.13, Alan Cootes 45th in 24.58, Lee Webber 46th in 24.59, Jim Bates 48th in 25.17, Louise Kedge 57th in 26.04, Andrew Smith 59th in 26.11, Holly Davis 62nd in 26.26, Steve Cowlin 70th in 26.53, Hannah Wenlock 75th in 27.02, Peter Ayling 79th in 27.21, Louise Cootes 87th in 27.59, Martyn Coulter 88th in 28.00, Louise Peacock 97th in 28.46, Paul Cadogan 100th in 29.04, Alison Bull 116th in 30.58, Jane Evans 117th in 31.06, Debbie Cooper 130th in 32.25, Spencer Brooks 133rd in 33.39, Graham Saville 134th in 33.39, Sandra Webber 158th in 37.23, Tracie Cook 167th in 39.44 and Karen Kitson 173rd in 41.39.
At Hackney Marshes parkrun Dan Chapman finished in 7th place out of 251 finishers in 17.25 (PB).
At Barking parkrun Rob Lowe finished in 2nd place outof 90 finishers in 17.35.
At Edmonton parkrun Danny McCree finished in 6th place out of 129 finishers in 19.05.
At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Owen Haigh finished in 4th place out of 312 finishers in 19.20, Jason Haigh was 37th in 21.45, Janice Page 123rd in 25.52, Justin Patten 143rd in 26.31, Celia Haigh 191st in 28.59, Teresa Stickland 208th in 29.31 and Helen Brunton 285th in 38.18.
At Southend parkrun Paul Schroder finished in 16th place out of 309 finishers in 21.15 and Wendy Schroder was 68th in 25.05.
At the Gunpowder parkrun at Waltham Abbey Jon Waight finished in 23rd place out of 192 finishers in 23.07 and Ayshea Pite was 71st in 26.14.
At South Woodham Ferrers parkrun Mark Hayward finished in 28th place out of 90 finishers in 26.44.
At Cirencester parkrun Brenda Clayton finished in 97th place out of 134 finishers in 31.01.
At Fritton parkrun in Norfolk Terasa Holden finished in 53rd place out of 62 finishers in 37.22.
