Harlow man Bradley Wernham found dead in a Gilston field

HERTFORDSHIRE Police are investigating the death of a well-known Harlow man.

Police responded to reports that the body of a man had been found in a field near Gilston just after 1pm on Friday (November 23).

Officers attended and sadly a 27 year old man from Essex was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.

YH understands that the man in question was Bradley Wernham.

Friends and family from Harlow were desperately searching for Bradley since he went missing, we understand, on Sunday November 18th, near to the Plume of Feathers pub.

Since last Sunday, a shrine for Bradley was set up in The Stow with friends and family paying emotional tributes.

Bradley was the subject of notoriety in 2010, when he was tagged as Britain’s most prolific burglar. It was revealed that he had committed over 700 burglaries.

He also featured on Channel 4 news in 2016, when he gave his thoughts on the killing of Arek Jozwik in The Stow.

YH has asked Essex Police if Bradley had been reported missing. They initially declined to answer that question. Hertfordshire Police, however, told us that Essex Police was investigating the disappearance of Bradley Wernham.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “A 27-year-old man from Harlow was reported as missing on November 19 and we carried out enquiries to try and find him.

“The search was suspended following the discovery of a man’s body near Gilston in Hertfordshire on November 23.
