Coalport Close community switch on Christmas lights

Lifestyle / Fri 7th Dec 2018 at 11:08am

THE Coalport Close Community Group, in Church Langley, brought Christmas to their community on Saturday night (1 December) when they switched on their Christmas lights and unveiled their Christmas tree.

The group has been busy over the past few months since its formation by Nicky Purse, cleaning the estate, trimming hedges, clearing the pond and helping their neighbours.

With Christmas coming the group suggested a street party for the lights, an estate Christmas tree and carols sung by local school children – plus cider punch and mince pies.

Nicky said after the event, “It was a wonderful evening with around 70 of my friends and neighbours. The community came together to organise it all, putting up the lights, erecting and decorating the tree – and baking all those mince pies.”
