HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has welcomed the news that the Prime Minister, Theresa May, has won a vote of confidence.

Two hundred MPs voted that they had “Confidence” in the Prime Minister whilst 117 voted that they did not.

Many political commentators have said that the vote continues to place Mrs May in a vulnerable position.

Mr Halfon was in the room when the chairman of the 1922 Committee announced the result.

Speaking to YH afterwards, Mr Halfon said: “I am delighted that the prime minster has won the vote. We must now put this period of uncertainty behind us.

“I have had a remarkable number of Harlow residents contacting me and supporting Mrs May. They also wanted certainty and stability.

“I spoke to Mrs May and urged her to campaign for social justice. She promised she would.
