Gymnastics: Lois and Macey shine for Harlow

NDP Essex County Grades March 2019

LOIS Covill and Macey Brown shone for Harlow Gymnastics club at the Essex NDP grades competition in Colchester. All 22 gymnasts passed their respective grade, competing against top gymnast from the county.

Nine-year-old Fawberts & Barnards pupil Lois Covill earned the overall silver medal in the grade 4 age 10 event after placing 2nd on beam, 3rd on vault and 4th on R&C (range and conditioning). Competing in the same event, Amy Abery (9) placed 1st on bars and 2nd on floor, finishing in 8th place overall.

Teammates Tamzin Mason (10) and Emily Forey (10) placed 14th and 15th overall respectively.

Jerounds pupil, Macey Brown (10) was awarded the overall bronze medal in the grade 4 age 11 event after placing 3rd in R&C, 4th on vault and join 5th on floor with teammate Kara McMahon (10) who also placed 2nd in R&C and finished in 12th place overall.

In the grade 2 age 12/13 event, Megan Spencer (12) placed 4th on beam and 5th in R&C, finishing in 7th place overall. Katie Islin (12) placed 5th on vault and finished in 8th position.

Narrowly missing out on an overall medal, Great Dunmow pupil Isabelle Macarthy placed 5th on both beam and floor, and was awarded the 4th place rosette in the level 3 age 11/12 competition. In the same event Connie Allen (10), Summer Dolan (11), Skye Girolami (11), Honey Gillick (10), Mia Brine (10) and Eloise Moulds (10) placed 18th, 19th, 22nd, 24th, 25th and 27th overall respectively.

Forest Halls student Faye Andrews (14) placed 4th in R&C and 5th for vault, bars, beam and floor, earning the overall 5th place rosette in the grade 3 age 13+ event.

In the grade 5 age 9 event, Milana Lawrence (9) placed 5th on bars, finishing in 8th position overall with Renee Stewart (8) placing 5th on beam to finishing in 11th position overall. Nina Robinson (9) and Lola Manuel (8) placed 12th and 14th respectively.

Genna Lee (8) placed 3rd on vault and finished in 17th overall in the grade 6 age 8 event, with Renee Firth Moon (7) placing 29th overall.

Both Lois and Macey qualify for the East Region competition held later this month.

Club co-owner and head girls coach said, “Very pleased with how the girls did at the county NDP grades, looking forwards to the regional level competition with Lois and Macey”.
