Robert Halfon MP lobbies Government Treasury for fairer fuel prices

TODAY (Wednesday), Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow, will meet with the Exchequer Secretary at HM Treasury, Robert Jenrick MP, alongside campaign organisation, Fair Fuel UK, and fellow MPs, to discuss fair fuel prices for motorists.

The meeting with the Treasury, which will be attended by Robert Halfon MP, Douglas Ross MP (Chair of the APPG for Fair Fuel for UK Motorists) Kirstene Hair MP (Vice-Chair), and Howard Cox (Founder of Fair Fuel UK), will be used to press the Government for an Independent Pump Price Monitoring Body. Pump Watch, as it will be known, aims to establish complete transparency of what consumers pay at the pumps when oil prices change, and exchange rates fluctuate.

According to Fair Fuel UK, 91.6% of drivers want an Independent Pump Pricing Monitoring Body to be put in place by the Government.

Robert Halfon has consistently lobbied the Government to keep fuel prices down and cut the cost of living, and has been instrumental in the Conservative Government’s fuel duty freeze for nine years.

He said: “This meeting today is the important next step in my campaign to cut the cost of living and keep prices down at the pump for hardworking Harlow motorists.

“I’ve worked hard with Fair Fuel UK to keep fuel prices frozen. Pump Watch will ensure that drivers are no longer ripped off by petrol suppliers by regulating prices.”
