ON Saturday July 20th Herts & Essex Community Farm will be hosting the sixth annual Farm Fest at their Fold Croft site.
The festival is free and is aimed at bringing the local community together, with fun for all ages.
Local musicians including Harlow Rock School, Box Deluxe, Harlow Steel Band, Better Unplugged and the Efua Sey African Drummers will be performing, whilst over in the peaceful willow classroom guests can enjoy seed bomb making and laughter yoga workshops as well as a performance from poet, Tom Lee.
There will be a BBQ with locally sourced produce and vegetarian options available including grilled halloumi burgers, whilst the farm kitchen will serve up a range of vegan options including curry, chilli and a nourishing Buddha Bowl using vegetables grown at the farm.
The Farm Shop will be selling produce grown at the farm as well as a range of jams, oils, teas, herbs and beauty products all made with the same organic produce grown at the farm.
FarmFest organiser Elliot Wollen said: “We are looking forward to our 6th ever Farm Fest. Last year was our busiest year ever and we hope to engage the local community again with a lovely day out to bring families and friends together in a beautiful environment. We have a lot to celebrate as our town is thriving and we feel we have our part to play by promoting environmental sustainability, organic food growing and giving a chance to local musicians and people wanting to have a fun day out!”
There will also be henna art, face-painting, a tombola and old-fashioned games for everyone to enjoy with great prizes for all. All proceeds will go towards furthering the work the Community Farm does, including working with schools, community groups and providing fresh produce to the local homeless charity, Streets 2 Homes.
The event runs from 12 – 6pm and guests are encouraged to arrive by foot or public transport as there is only limited parking available at the nearby St. Thomas More Church in Hodings Road.
Herts & Essex Community Farm is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to promote educational, social, environmental and health benefits to the local community.
The project holds regular volunteer days which are open to all and all volunteers are welcome to go home with a share of the produce which is all organically grown.
