Resurfacing is now complete so the clockwise side has re-opened with a lane 3 closure in place whilst the central reservation is repaired. Anti-clockwise still closed but will re-open shortly, more to follow

Statement from Fire Service

Firefighters were called to the scene of a road traffic collision on the M25 Junction 27 to 26 Westbound this afternoon.

On arrival, crews reported that a large vehicle had overturned and had blocked both carriageways.

Crews worked to make the scene safe by 5:38pm.

2100 hrs

Drivers wanting to use the M25 in Essex are being advised of closures on the carriageways in both directions following a collision involving a 55 tonne crane.

The incident happened earlier this evening just before 5.30pm when the vehicle crossed over from the clockwise to the anti-clockwise carriageway and overturned causing damage to the central reservation.

The carriageway is currently closed clockwise within junction 27 with traffic congestion back to junction 25.

Anti-clockwise the carriageway is currently closed between junctions 28 and 27 with traffic congestion back to junction 29 in that direction.

Highways England teams worked hard together with the emergency services to release the earlier trapped traffic from the scene.

Motorway is CLOSED for a serious road traffic collision involving a vehicle that has crossed over.

A crane has over turned and full spilled onto the motorway.

All emergency services heading to scene.
