Make a real difference to your community

PEOPLE living with a life-limiting condition, or nearing the end of their life due to illness or age, often struggle with loneliness and social isolation. Compassionate Neighbours can really make a difference and offer some extra support. They are a network of trained volunteers who offer their time, companionship and a listening ear to people living in their community who are coping with illness or old age.

We are looking for people who live in Uttlesford District, Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Harlow and Epping Forest, to become a Compassionate Neighbour for St Clare.

Compassionate Neighbours help others by:

visiting regularly
offering companionship, emotional support and a listening ear
helping them to do the things they like doing
helping them stay connected to the community as well as family and friends
You will be provided with a full training programme, provided free of charge. Our training courses are informal, fun and inspirational. We give you the opportunity to explore how you can use your compassion to help others and give you the confidence to support people in your community. You’ll develop skills and meet other like-minded Compassionate Neighbours.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to take on this very rewarding role we’d love to hear from you. Please note that you must be over 18 to volunteer for this service. We will carry out a relevant DBS check and you must be willing to give up your time on a regular basis.
