Team of 12 to represent St Clare Hospice at London Marathon 2020

ST Clare Hospice in Hastingwood has allocated six Gold Bond places to a team of lucky, local people, who will run the 2020 London Marathon in aid of the charity. An additional six runners who were selected from the ballot have also pledged to run in aid of St Clare.

On Sunday 26th April 2020, the team of 12 will take on the 26.2 mile world-class marathon through the UK capital, all to raise vital funding for their local hospice.

The six Gold Bond runners were hand-chosen from a host of applicants all vying to run for Team St Clare. Each have pledged to raise a total of £2,000 for the West Essex and East Herts charity. Amongst them, it is estimated that the half a dozen runners will raise £12,000 in vital funding between them – precious pounds that will go towards the Hospice’s essential care and support services for local people facing, death, dying and loss. Any additional funds raised by the six ballot runners will also help to bump up the total from this prestigious, annual athletic event.

Competing with a Gold Bond place next April is: Nick Bowerbank (34, Epping); Jodie Burgess (43, Little Canfield); Sarah Cass (41, Matching); William Osmond (22, Loughton); (Neil Payne (49, Romford); Hayley Pillings (42, Great Dunmow).

St Clare Hospice are also encouraging more local London Marathon 2020 participants, who were one of the 17,500 to secure a place in the ballot, to join Team St Clare.

Joining the charity’s team will provide runners with an opportunity to benefit from a series of meetings at the Hospice, where professionals and experienced runners will share tips and tricks in relation to the Marathon.

St Clare running vests will also be provided to participants, as well as the opportunity to engage in peer support and team morale. There is no minimum fundraising target to achieve for ballot runners who wish to join Team St Clare; though all sponsorship donations will be gratefully received by the charity.
