Harlow 31 v 3 Romford
THE REDMEN stormed into the final of the Essex Intermediate Cup with a great victory against Romford.
Harlow made four changes to last weeks side. Showing the strength and depth they now have in their squad.
The Harlow forwards took control in the early stages of the game keeping ball to hand, picking and driving up the field. Winger Ryan McGlone found space penetrating through Romford’s defence. Passing the ball to the supporting Alfie Clark to score Harlow’s first try.
Romford thought back and their efforts were rewarded with a penalty, making the score 5 – 3. Both sides struggled to control the game but a quick pass by scrum half Chay Clark to centre Jake Hobbs caught the Romford defence out.
Crashing through the Romford defence and off loading the ball to Ryan McGlone who scored Harlow’s second try.
The reliable RIK Hobbs converting to take the score to 12 – 3 at Half Time.
The Harlow coaches decision to move Alfie Clark to scrum half in the second half paid dividends as he scores his second try from the base of a driving maul. At 19 – 3 the Romford heads were starting to drop. This gave the opportunity for Harlow to bring their substitutes on. Anthony Reynolds going into the back row, Ben Seymour to fly half and Ross Hope to centre.
Harlow dominated the end of the second half with two more tries coming from Jake Hobbs & Scott Whitby. Securing a Cup Final place with
