Harlow councillor joins calls for Sir Keir Starmer to reinstate shadow education secretary

A HARLOW councillor has signed a petition calling for the leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer to re-instate former shadow education secretary, Rebecca Long Bailey.

Ms Bailey was sacked last week for sharing an article on social media with an anti-semitic conspiracy theory.

The Socialist Campaign Group of Labour councillors issued the statement.

It can be read below.

“We wish to record our appreciation of the good work which Rebecca Long-Bailey has conducted in her role with Labour’s education brief, including her resistance to the premature and unsafe wider opening of schools.

“We call on Keir Starmer to issue a full and unequivocal apology to Rebecca Long-Bailey, and to reinstate her to her shadow cabinet position.”
Statement on the unjust sacking of Rebecca Long-Bailey from the Socialist Campaign Group of Labour Councillors.”

Among the councillors who have signed the petition is Netteswell councillor Shannon Jezzard, who is one of dozens of Labour councillors across the country who have signed the petition.

Many on the left of the party have been greatly disappointed by the decision but have mobilised under a campaign of “Don’t Leave, Organise”.

Cllr Jezzard is steadily becoming the most vocal of all the Labour councillors on the left in Harlow Council with a number of tweets criticising Sir Keir Starmer. Recently she tweeted “If I was the leader of the opposition, I would catch myself on (wise up)”, “Controversial take I know but the Labour Party doesn’t exist to appease the Tories.” and ‘Labour friends of imperialism is it?”

I’m confused now. A few weeks ago people were tearing down statues because even though people did good things they were racist and profited off slavery. Today, we have someone racist and almost the same people calling for them to have a top job in parliament. Is it suddenly ok to forgive people’s views now if they are generally a good person? Or are we cherry picking what we can and cannot do to be seen as a good person.

Absolutely stunningly ridiculous! The hypocrisy of the young Corbyn worshipping Momentum rabble running Labour this days is ridiculous. How about you get Harlow in a fit state before you start running around with placards and standing up for the actions of idiotic MPs! I am sure Olive from On the Buses will be back within days!

Jezzard is straight out of a theatrical farce. Nothing logical to submit, just keeps taking an opposite stance on any and everything in the hope that somebody or anybody will take some notice of her.

Where do the Marxists get these idiots from ?
