Planning / Wed 26th Aug 2020 at 09:13am

PLANS for a two storey extension to a house in Great Leylands is set to go before the Harlow Council planning committee.

The application is for a two-storey side extension extending the line of the house with the roof ridge continuing the line of the ridge of the existing house, doubling its width from approximately seven metres to approximately 14 metres.

Windows are shown in the front and rear elevations, but none are shown in the side. In addition, a toilet would be added to the porch, roughly doubling its width.

At the moment parking is provided in the garage and car port with some further parking space in front. The plans show this would be all removed. Instead two parking spaces would be provided using an existing hardstanding, albeit not currently accessible to vehicles, adjacent to the boundary with number 10.

There have been a number of objections

A Great Leylands resident – Concerned about noise from adjacent bathroom and lack of soundproofing, asks if landscaping can be implemented as front garden is overgrown, possibility of future application to split into two dwellings.

A Great Leylands resident – House having no garage would mean it would be out of keeping with rest of Great Leylands, risk to adjacent trees, parking.

A Purford Green resident – Reiterates objections made to previous applications on this site, parking, drainage is an issue with flooding in the adjacent alley, 11 Great Leylands was built as it was to provide light and privacy to Purford Green houses.

A Purford Green resident – Loss of privacy, 11 Great Leylands was built in this way to provide light to Purford Green residents, loss of privacy, would affect our rear access, will greatly affect character and appearance of surrounding area, parking.

A Purford Green resident – Loss of privacy, loss of daylight, fence has already been removed so site is being used as a short cut.
