Coronavirus Action Group to hold meeting on NHS Pay, Evictions and Schools

News / Tue 1st Sep 2020 at 11:40am

WORRIES about the re-opening of schools, the eviction of people unable to cover their rents and mortgages, and the level of pay of health workers, are to be addressed at an online public meeting this Tuesday (1st September).

A nurse working in Basildon will be the guest speaker at the event, which has been organised by the Harlow Coronavirus People Before Profit Action Group in association with People Before Profit Health Worker Covid Activists.

The meeting will receive a report on the campaign to stop possible evictions in Harlow, and there will be a discussion on concerns about the re-opening of local schools.

“The NHS has been praised by the government for its heroic efforts during this pandemic, but the government has failed to put its money where its mouth is. We are supporting the call for a substantial pay increase for NHS workers” said John Wake, speaking on behalf of the local Action Group.

The meeting will be held at 7:30 using Zoom. Full details of how to access the meeting are available on the Facebook page of the Harlow Coronavirus People Before Profit Action Group
