HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has told YH that he has spoken to Essex Police regarding a number of unlawful encampments in the town.
Initially, there was one opposite the Harlow Leisurezone but by yesterday afternoon, another group camped near to Northbrooks.
Robert Halfon said: I have spoken to Harlow’s Police Inspector who explained that the unauthorised encampment at the helipad arrived on Sunday at around 6.30pm.
Police attended yesterday morning at 9am to conduct a site assessment. Police then served notices directing the encampment to leave by 1.30pm.
“I understand the encampment may have moved to another site in the town. This is unacceptable and I strongly believe that there must be zero tolerance without equivocation towards illegal encampments.
“I will continue to speak regularly to the authorities and ensure that they use their powers to end this.”
"use their powers" - Perhaps RH could, as our MP, work to improve "their powers" so that "zero tolerance towards illegal encampments" can be legaly achieved. I'm sure RH isn't suggesting "the authorities" break the law in a specific and limited way to enforce "zero tolerance"?
