A PARENT who asked for a refund of their subscription from Harlow Town Football Club after they discovered that their child was being coached by someone without safeguarding clearance has won their case in the small claims court.
Last year, we reported that parents of Harlow Town FC’s under-14s found out about the safeguarding breach after they had paid their subs for the coming season.
They left the club en masse but asked if they could have a refund of their £320.00 payment.
According to the parents, officials of the club agreed and then there was a change of minds.
One of the parents took his case to the small claims court in Edmonton where on August 20th he was awarded £205 plus costs of £95.
A spokesperson for Harlow Town Football Club said: ” We are in communication with the parent and we intend to settle the payment”.
YH understands that several other families may now take to the courts to seek compensation.
An Essex Football Association investigation had earlier found the club guilty of a breach of code.
