Crosskeys Netball Club celebrate 40th birthday

Sport / Fri 4th Dec 2020 at 11:13am

THIS year is the 40th Birthday of local netball club Crosskeys.

Many celebrations were planned to celebrate this fact but sadly they have had to be “put on hold” until celebrations are allowable.

However, in terms of things to celebrate they have excelled themselves during this weird season!

A Crosskeys spokesperson said:

“The success of our young players in gaining places on the Netball Pathway has delighted us all, We currently have two U12’s in satellite groups. Grace at Herts and Keira at East Essex.

The same two talented youngsters have also secured places in a new initiative being run by the NPL group London Pulse – this is a multi-sport group for gifted and talented athletes.

We also have Danielle U14’s at East Essex County and Grace U15’s at Herts County.

Eight Youth players have gained places in the various London Pulse Hubs. Georgia, Kezia, Emily, Fran, Beth, Leila, Erynn P and Erin W.

One Youth player has excelled and Molly has a place in the Mavericks U17’s NPL squad.

“Then we have two coaches connected to the coaching team at London Pulse.

Jenni is a lead coach at a hub and also coach to The London Knights (the England Men’s team) and Vanessa who was “head hunted to coach” at a hub.

“Finally, to round of an extraordinary year, Last month we won the Golden Globe Award for The Outstanding Club of the Year for the East Region.

“We are now waiting with everything crossed to see if next week we can come out triumphant as National winners.

“This is such an honour and everyone at Crosskeys is so proud that our work in the netball community has been recognised in this way”.
