Covid-19 statistics: Harlow drops down table

News / Sat 12th Dec 2020 at 06:13pm

BEFORE we start, may we explain (as best we can) a little bit about the statistics we publish.

We get them from two sources.

https://coronavstats.co.uk

Plus great work from the Twitter account @RP131

The figures you see today are as follows.

The number of Covid-19 cases for Harlow on December 7th is 222.8. That is a decrease from December 6th which was 234.3.

However, when we say that there has been a 2.1% increase, that is an increase over a seven day period (Nov 30th to December 7th).

There were 194 cases.

Harlow has slid down to 51st in the chart, which is its lowest position since Dec 2nd.

If we are looking for positives then Harlow is still hovering around the 50th place mark.

On November 19th it was 251st and then the rate started to rise and it climbed uppitiest the chart. By November 30th, it was in 53rd place. Its highest position was 36th on December 7th.

The infection rate tells a similar story. Back on September 30th it was 29.9. October 16th: 68.9. November 8th: 118.3. November 22nd it was 206.7.

Yes, it would be great to know where people were being infected. How many in care homes, how many people with underlying health conditions, how many people caught it at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

As the only newspaper in Harlow, this is the best we can do.

For further reference, there is our channel which has, to date, 784 Covid-related news items on channel since March.

As you will note, there are a lot of neighbours that are doing a lot worse.
