Letter to Editor: “Is Robert Halfon claiming the government spent £500M on the terrible meals”

Dear Sir,

“In November, the Government announced a package worth more than £500 million to combat child food hunger.”

“At the time, the Opposition put forward a proposal to spend just £40 million.”

Is Robert Halfon claiming the government spent £500M on the crap meals, photos of which have been circulated, meals that are broadly in line with government guidelines? Is he then saying that to provide the same service the opposition would have spent just £40M? As crap as the “meals” were, they were broadly in line with the guide lines. Claiming to have spent 11 times tax payers money just shows how wastefull this government is.

“The Government’s food package is as follows:”

Still, it doesn’t really matter if £500M or £40M is spent because it will all be paid for by the Brexit dividend that Boris promised in 2016. It was on the side of a bus so it must be true.
