Athletics: Harlow Running Club weekly report

HARLOW Running Club had four members contest the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday morning. The route goes past London’s most iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the Shard and the London Eye to name a few. Vicky Steadman was first home for HRC in 1088th place out of 10,954 finishers in an excellent 1hr 43min 20sec. She was followed by Mark Moulds 2887th in 1.56.42, Paul Cadogan 6837th in 2.21.50 and Dan Finch 7306th in 2.25.31.
Meanwhile, in a very different Half Marathon, at the Circuit du Sore Legs Half Marathon at Woodson Park Athletics Track in Ware Sean Flynn completed 52.75 laps of the track to finish in 4th place out of 12 finishers in 1.53.52.
Rob Lowe finished 18th out of 201 finishers and 2nd Vet 50 in a fantastic 36.35 at the Victoria Park 10k.
Harlow female triathletes were in action at the Maldon Triathlon (1500m sea swim, 45km bike, 10km run). Louise Kedge finished in 28th place out of 48 finishers in 2.51.10, Helen Barrell 38th in 3.07.38, Kerry Mavris 41st in 3.11.03 and Janice Page 44th in 3.15.29.
At the Box End Beast Half Ironman Triathlon (2.2km swim, 85km bike, 20km off road run), in Bedford, Gail Nicholls put in a tremendous effort to finish in 22nd place out of 24 finishers in a PB time of 5.57.18.
A total of 63 runners completed parkruns on Saturday morning including 46 at Harlow parkrun. There were PBs from Jon Waight at the Gunpowder parkrun at Waltham Abbey and Keith Streeter and Mark Bentley both at Harlow. There also debut runs from Paige Bircham, Adam Galloway, Steve Wright, Mick Gleeson and Jason Best all at Harlow.
