Athletics: Vintage Bentley motors at Olympic Park

Harlow Running Club member Mark Bentley finished in 9th place out of 78 finishers, and 1st Vet 50, in an excellent 42min 54sec at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10k over the weekend. He was followed home by Laura Prime in 22nd place and 1st Female Vet 40 in 52.41, Jane Evans 33rd and 2nd Female Vet 50 in 54.31 and Sandra Westgate 34th in a PB time of 54.35.
Meanwhile, at the St Albans Summer 10k Simon Couper finished in 76th place out of 342 finishers in a PB time of 44.49 and Bobby Draper was 106th in 47.39.
The Uranus Morning Run is a race where you can complete as many laps as you like of a 3.28 mile looped course along the River Stort. Jason Fox completed 6 laps for a total distance of 19.7 miles in a time of 3hrs 06min 48sec. Laura Prime completed 4 laps for a distance of 16.4 miles in 2.44.53 and Terasa Holden, also 4 laps, in 3.45.04.
At the same venue in the Half Marathon Heidi Fox finished in 3.08.03 in her debut at the distance.
At the London Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) Helen Barrell finished in 1.50.32.
This time includes 18min where Helen was held in transition due to an electrical storm.
HRC had 61 runners take part in parkruns on Saturday morning including 46 at Harlow. Of notable achievement was a PB by Daniel Jephcott at Morecambe parkrun with a fantastic time of 17.45. There were also parkrun debuts for Bradley Holmes at Huddersfield and John McCarthy at Harlow.
