Robert Halfon MP meets with Greater Anglia to push for further station improvements and cheaper fares

News / Thu 7th Oct 2021 at 12:00pm

HARLOW’S MP, Robert Halfon, has lobbied Greater Anglia for many years to make improvements to all of the train stations in Harlow and the villages and also to cut the cost of commuting. He again raised his campaigns with the train operator in a meeting earlier this week.

Mr Halfon strongly welcomed a number of actions Greater Anglia have taken and that he has helped to secure including:

  • New ‘flexi-season tickets’ which will help to reduce prices for commuters and reflect their work patterns
  • New cleaner, faster, bigger trains with charging points and free WiFi
  • Refurbished of waiting rooms, extra cycle parking and restoration of the station buildings at Harlow Town
  • Easier and cheaper parking with Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Flexi car park season tickets at Harlow Town

This comes on top of further upgrades to the main commuter lines, enhanced cleaning services and a further roll out of new trains.

Commenting, Mr Halfon said: “I pledged to do all I can to improve the commuter experience with better stations and cheaper prices and to that end, I have regular meetings with Greater Anglia to lobby for this.

“The new flexi tickets will make a big difference as Harlow commuters return to their regular journeys and the new trains will make those journeys far more pleasant.

“I strongly welcome the further improvements that have been made, but there is still much more to do. I will continue to do everything possible to secure many more improvements and investment as quickly as possible.”
