Swimming: Harlow Penguins shine at Essex Winter Champs

HARLOW Penguins Swimming clubs 9-12 year olds competed in the Essex Winter Championships over the weekend.

Penguins George Jones competed in the 12 year old age group and led the way by winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

George having an amazing weekend went on to get two bronze medals in the 50 breaststroke and 100 individual medley.

In the same age group Dmitrijs Gracovs won a handful of bronze medals in the 100 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.

Harlow Penguins had another county champion with 10 year old Genna Lee winning the 100 breaststroke. Two of the clubs 9 year olds competing for the first time put their nerves aside to bring home some medals.

Bobby Mercer won a silver medal in the 100 Freestyle and Ivy Powell gained two bronze medals for 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle.

George, Genna, Dmitrijs and Bobby also claimed top 8 places for other events, along with Cooper Smith, Kayla Smith, Adam White, Indie Pettitt, Charlie Plume and Summer Buckland.

Next week it is the turn of the 13 years and over.
