Outstanding performances by Harlow Gymnastics Club at Gymnova Invitational Open

A QUINTET of medals for Harlow Gymnastics Club after travelling to the East Midlands to compete at the Notts Gymnova Invitational Open 2021 in Nottingham last weekend.
Performing with perfection, Harlowbury pupil Renee Firth-Moon competed beautiful giants with the highest starting value of the competition to become the bar champion of the Classic Challenge Copper age 10 event. Renee went on to finish in a respectable 8th position overall.
A fantastic competition and polished beam performance earned High Wych primary pupil Lola Manuel the silver medal for beam and bronze medal on vault. Lola went on to finish in 7th position overall in the Challenge Zinc 11+ event.
Both competing a Yurchenko vault for the first time, Honey Gillick and Skye Girolami performed with excellence and achieved bronze medals for vaults in their respective events.
In the Classic Challenge Copper 14+ event, Leventhorpe student Skye was also rewarded with 4th place on floor following her routine with a fantastic twist, finishing in 8th place overall. In addition to her bronze medal, Birchwood student Honey Gillick placed 13th overall in the Classic Challenge copper age 12-13 event. In the same event, Leventhorpe student Summer Dolan had a stunningly clean competition and came away with an incredible 6th place overall.
Broxbourne student Ellie Hodges competed her Tsukahara on vault for the first time and managed an excellent 4th place on beam despite an unlucky fall on her free cartwheel. She went on to place 13th overall in the Classic Challenge bronze 13-14 years competition.
In the level 6 age 8 event, Sheredes primary pupil Ivy Clarke placed 5th on bars to finish in 8th place overall, and Staples Road Primary pupil Aria Franklin placed 6th on floor to finish in 13th place overall in the Level 7 age 7 event.
As well as performing with excellence against gymnasts from all over England, the gymnasts were lucky enough to meet Ellie Downie, the All-around 2017 European gymnastics champion who was the first gymnast to win a major all-around title for Great Britain.
