Harlow Gymnastics Club end the year in style

AN outstanding weekend for Harlow Gymnastics, with 8 medals won and all 32 competing gymnasts being awarded their respective grades at the Essex County Competition at Iceni Gymnastics Club in Colchester.  

Alessandra Aronica shone at the top level grade 6 event, placing 1st on bars, beam, floor and R&C, earning the overall gold medal. Elsie Leverington was awarded the bronze overall medal after placing 1st on vault and 3rd on bars, beam, floor and R&C. Amelia Palmer secured 4th place overall, after placing 2nd on beam and 3rd on vault. Kira Henson placed 3rd on beam to finish in 6th place overall. Also in the level 6 event, teammates Libby Chung, Grace Codlin and Ellie Aimable placed 5th, 7th and 8th respectively. 

Natasha Bishop and Renee Stewart were both awarded the bronze overall medal for their performance in the grade 5 event. Natasha also placed 1st on bars and 2nd on beam, with Renee placing 1st on R&C and 3rd on bars. Missy Poole placed 3rd on both vault and floor to finished in 4th place overall. Finishing in 6th position overall, Sienna Smith also placed 2nd on both vault and bars. In the same event, Charlotte Smith, Milli Battelley and Poppy Bridgewater placed 5th, 7th and 8th overall respectively. 

With the highest number of competitors from all the clubs, the grade 4 event was the largest of the day. Maybel Brooks, Sofia Shraka, Lucy Brough, Molly Mather and Ava Bowles placed 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th overall respectively.  

The medals continued in the grade 3 event from golden girls Eva Reeve and Poppy-Rose White. In addition to their overall gold medals, Eva placed 2nd on floor and 3rd on bars, with Poppy-Rose placing 2nd on beam and 3rd on both vault and floor. Myla Collins finished 4th overall after placing 1st on bars and 3rd on beam, with teammate Shilah Wynter-Glace finishing narrowly behind in 5thplace. Layla Clarke placed 1st on vault and 2nd on bars to finish in 6th overall, and Evelyn Lawrence finished in 7th after placing 2ndon vault. 

The final medals of the day were in the grade 2 competition from duo Isla Edwards and Darcey Degani. Isla placed 1st on beam, 2ndon both bars and floor, and 3rd on vault winning her the gold overall medal. Darcey placed 1st on both beam and floor earning the overall bronze. Deliah Cavendish placed 1st on vault and 2nd on beam, finishing in 4th overall, with Poppy Rose Dear finishing narrowly behind in 5th after placing 3rd on both bars and beam. In the same event, teammates Katie-Rose Garland, Harper Gillick and Mia Allen placed 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. 

The club were absolutely delighted with these fantastic achievements, as this was the inaugural county competition for many of the younger gymnasts and the first time the senior gymnasts had been able to compete for 2 years.
