Athletics: Happy and healthy new year for Innovation Multisport
Athletics / Wed 12th Jan 2022 pm31 12:22pm
FIRST weekend of January 2022 and Innovation Multisport members are back out there achieving their goals already!
Saturday saw 19 members visit 5 different parkruns, all starting the weekend right, with 3.1miles leaving their working week worries behind them!
Sunday was the start of the racing calender and getting into full swing were members Bob Draper, Kelly Burgess, Chris Holt and Dave Nicholas who took part in a flat/fast 10k in Victoria Park. Bob managed a respectable 47.31, position 84th, Kelly took another 1min1sec off her 10k PB that was only set last month, coming in just after Bob with a great time of 47.36, 18th female/3rd in her age cat. Chris was after a sub-60 and came in with lots of time to spare at 57.13, position 190th and Dave was aiming to beat the time he set in the summer and came in at 1hr16, position 258th achieving to be faster than the last 10k race he had entered! Superb !
Back in Essex and Vicky Steadman was delighted with her Standard distance Duathlon comprising of a run/bike/run. Despite icy conditions and deer trying to cross the course she came in 8th place overall and a fantastic 2nd female, coming away with 2 medals!
