Letter to Editor: Old Harlow councillor thanks voters

Politics / Fri 6th May 2022 am31 11:53am

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank everyone who voted in Old Harlow, Churchgate Street, Gilden Park and Newhall on Thursday. It is a privilege to be returned to serve the community where I live and grew up. The election result in Old Harlow reflected the focus on local issues during the campaign.

My colleagues and I who make up the Conservative administration on Harlow Council are determined to deliver further improvements to the street scene, press ahead with council house building and will get on with the job of delivering town centre regeneration.

There will be further work to tackle the cost of living. In the next two years, plans are already in place for 0% increases to Council Tax.

Old Harlow is a growing community. I plan to focus my time on making sure the right community services are in place to meet the needs of each resident I am elected to represent. There is also work to be done to support residents’ concerns about the impact of the previous administration’s Local Plan.

I will work with residents to ensure their voice is heard on planning matters going forward.

Thank you again to the voters in Old Harlow, Churchgate Street, Gilden Park and Newhall for placing their trust in me to stand up for what is a special corner of the town.

Yours faithfully,
Cllr Joel Charles
