Athletics: Stort success for Harlow Running Club

HARLOW Running and Tri Club had three members contest the Halstead Marathon which also doubled as the Essex Marathon Championships. Sandy Rust finished in 51st place out of 116 finishers and 2nd Female Vet 50 to win the Essex Female Vet 50 Silver Medal in an excellent time of 3hrs 42min 17sec. Colin Moody was 74th and 1st Vet 70 to win the Essex Vet 70 Gold Medal in 4.08.35. Paul Dixon finished in 75th place in 4.09.35.

Meanwhile, there were several members at the offroad Stort 5 / 10 Mile races held at Cammas Hall, near Hatfield Broad Oak. In the 5 Mile race Alan Wellbelove finished in 20th place out of 223 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 46.26. Mark Unwin was 25th in 48.25, Kate Porter 33rd in 49.52, Lisa Brett 37th in 50.21, Heidi Fox 62nd in 56.49, Yasmin Gregory 107th in 1.17.41 and Karen Greenall 121st in 1.23.32.

In the 10 Mile race Jason Fox finished in 102nd place out of 223 finishers in a superb PB time of 1.16.21. He was followed home by Chris Arnell in 111th place in 1.20.26, Paige Bircham 122nd in 1.24.01, Steve Wright 137th in 1.27.33(PB), Michelle Sheridan 165th in 1.37.10, Pasqualle Pellecchia 166th and 2nd Vet 70 in 1.37.15, Jacobus van der Poel 186th in 1.43.55, Selina Morgan 201st in 1.47.46, Mick Gleeson 204th in 1.49.16 and Teresa Stickland 211th in 1.51.02. 

NB. The races were run concurrently and the finishing positions do not take into account whether you ran the 5 or 10 mile race.

Alan Wellbelove, Mark Unwin and Kate Porter combined to finish 2nd team in the 5 mile race and   
Jason Fox, Chris Arnell and Paige BiRcham combined to finish 3rd team in the 10 mile race.

At the Greenway Challenge Trail Half Marathon, Sean Flynn was 106th out of 186 finishers in 2.01.01.
