ON Friday 23rd September, three of Innovation Multisport’s members represented Great Britain at the European Age Group Aquathlon Championships in Bilbao, Spain.

The 1km swim took place in the Nervión River; the tide led to some flattering swim times though the wind caused some unpleasantly choppy conditions.

The relatively flat 5km run was held in the Getxo district of the city. Andrew Kitson was competing at his 4th European championship and completed the course in a time of 34 minutes and 37 seconds (swim 12:35, run 20:52) and achieved a 17th place in the M45 category (Males 45-49 years of age).

Next across the finish line was Ryan Smith, who was making his debut in a GB trisuit, his time of 37:42 (swim 14:43, run 21:31) was enough for a 20th position in the M40 category.

Also racing in the M40 category was Paul Schroder. Despite a series of recent injuries Paul finished in a time of 44:31 (swim 17:39, run 25:11) and finished in 26th place.”
