Jerounds incredible transformation confirmed by Ofsted

Education / Thu 17th Nov 2022 pm30 12:59pm

JEROUNDS Primary Academy has been praised by Ofsted as a school that is Good in all areas – confirming its transformation since joining NET Academies Trust.

The school was known as Jerounds Community Primary School when it was last inspected by Ofsted in 2017, when it was found to be Inadequate.

But it joined NET Academies Trust a year later and Laura Ciftci joined as headteacher – and since then the academy has been turned around.

In its new Ofsted report, inspectors said that “leaders at every level, including governors and trustees, want the best for the children at this school. Governors visit regularly and constructively challenge school leaders. Staff appreciate the consideration of leaders for their wellbeing. They value the opportunities for ongoing professional development from NET Academies Trust”.

Other highlights include:

·       Pupils enjoy their learning and achieve well, are respectful to adults and each other, are keen to help and support each other, and feel valued because their ideas are listened to.

·       Leaders at every level work effectively to provide a creative, varied and ambitious curriculum, with pupils learning a broad range of subjects.

·       Pupils who fall behind are given support to help them catch up.

·       Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are given the extra help they need by “skilful” adults. This means that pupils with SEND achieve well and develop confidence and independence.

·       Reading is strong and pupils rapidly learn to read and enjoy books.

·       Pupils behave well and bad behaviour is rare. If it happens, teachers act quickly to address it so that pupils can get back to learning quickly. Leaders ensure pupils treat each other with consideration and respect and the children make sure everyone feels included, with older pupils “happily volunteering” to help younger pupils at breaktimes.

Laura Ciftci, Head of School at Jerounds Primary Academy, said:

“We are delighted to receive our recent Ofsted inspection in which we were rated Good across the board. At Jerounds we have really high expectations for our pupils in all areas of school life and that is what we have seen reflected in the Ofsted report.

“I would like to extend a huge thank you to all our wonderful pupils, parents, staff and governors for their continued support and to NET Academies Trust for their exceptional guidance.

“It’s been a steady and sure journey of improvement over the last four years and this report is a testament to everyone’s hard work.”

Jo Coton, Chief Executive Officer of NET Academies Trust, added:

“I am thrilled that Laura and the team at Jerounds Primary Academy have achieved such a well-deserved Ofsted report. They have all worked extremely hard to secure these improvements. We look forward to continuing to support Jerounds to provide a rounded education that prepares our pupils for their next steps.”
