International Women’s Day: Catherine breaks ten year old club record at Cambridge Half Marathon

HARLOW Running and Tri Club members were in action at the weekend, many in preparation for a Spring Marathon, at 2 20 milers and 4 Half Marathons amongst others. There many excelling performances including 1 Essex Gold Medal, 4 club records and 22 personal best performances.
The Essex 20 Mile Championships were held at Debden Airfield, near Saffron Walden, on a chilly Sunday morning. Martin Westley was first home for Harlow in 47th place out of 319 finishers in and excellent 2hrs 07min 26sec. He was followed by Sandi Rust in 189th place and 1st Female Vet 55 in 2.41.45, which would won her the Gold Medal in her age category if she had ticked the relevant box on her entry form! However, her time was good enough for a new Female Vet 55 Club Record, last set in 2006. Colin Moody was 231st and 1st Vet 70 in 2.58.22 which did win him the Male Vet 70 Gold Medal. Sandra Webber finished in 293rd place in 3.21.31, a PB by over 13min, and Liz Roberts was 291st in 3.27.24, in her debut at the distance.
Meanwhile, at the Oundle 20 mile race in Northamptonshire, Tim Wood finished in 77th place out of 387 finishers in 2.33.28 in his debut at the distance. Mathew Spires was 81st in 2.34.28(Debut), Gary Mead 150th in 2.52.53(PB), Jane Evans 200th in 3.01.49(PB), Kelly Spires 222nd in 3.07.54(Debut) and Debbie Mead 362nd in 3.53.20(PB).
At the Cambridge Half Marathon Pas Blackwell finished in 150th place out of 11,382 finishers in an excellent 1.16.20, a PB and a new Male Vet 40 Club Record. He was followed by Lucy Barnes in 195th place in another excellent time of 1.17.21, a PB and new Senior Female Club Record. Catherine Ridge finished in 1290th place in 1.31.18, a PB and a new Female Vet 40 Club Record last set in 2013.

At the Dartford Half Marathon Rob Lowe finished in 4th place out of 544 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in a fantastic 1.17.57.
At the Chelmsford Half Marathon Phil Middleton finished in 218th place out of 1061 finishers in 1.44.02, Paul Dixon was 347th in 1.49.10, Michelle Sheridan 387th in 1.52.01(PB), Cyril Cornillet 505th in 1.56.55(PB), Sean Flynn 523rd in 1.57.26 and Selina Morgan 745th in 2.10.57(PB).
At the same location in the 10k race Luella Dixon finished in 168th place out of 386 finishers in a PB time of 59.09.
At the London Half Marathon at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Colin Langbridge finished in 1345th place out of 1757 finishers in a PB time of 2.09.05.
At the same location in the 10k race Allison Beeton finished in 75th place out of 639 finishers and 1st Female Vet 55 in 47.36 and Jamie Olsen Ferreira was 137th in 51.08 in his debut at the distance.
At the Zig Zag Challenge Trail race at Brandon Country Park, Suffolk, Laura Prime covered 37k in 4.12.36.
At the English Duathlon Championships in Derbyshire (Run 12km, Bike 40km, Run 4km) Ben Usher finished in 63rd place out of 102 finishers in 2.55.00 and Terri Wiley was 64th and 3rd Female Vet 35 in 2.55.03.
There were parkrun PBs at Harlow parkrun for Colin Langbridge in 98th place out of 241 finishers in 27.15 and Alex Soady 127th in 29.37.
At the Gunpowder parkrun in Waltham Abbey Sarah Medlock finished in 127th place out of 191 finishers in a PB time of 33.30.
