Sport / Mon 26th Jun 2023 at 01:09pm

TEGATE UNDER 13s travelled to Manchester for the ENG Sports UK knockout cup finals representing the south of England.

The girls started strongly winning the first quarter of the semi final against Bury 8-10.

Bury came back out fighting and Tegate struggled to find their flow losing the game 35-20.

Onto the play off for 3rd/4th against Leeds.

Tegate were ahead for a large portion of this tightly contested game but just couldn’t hold on to the win.

Tegate lost a couple of vital balls in the last few minutes which Leeds converted and subsequently won the game 27-30.

A true battle to the end.

A spokesperson said: “Im so proud of the girls today – both games gave them some experience of playing against the best teams in the country.

Well done to players selected:

Jasmin Norsworthy

Ella Langston

Heidi Allen

Jessica Lacey

Harriet Pask

Emily Pask

Ellie Barbaneagra

Freya Rantell

Myla Kounnis and Scarlett Mundell did not make selection for the games today but came up to support the girls.

Lily Stanley and Autumn le Chevaliers-Jones stayed home and supported from there.

Parents… we could not have done this without your support too

“The whole squad has been a pleasure to coach through this new cup competition… this is only the start of their journey”.
