Your Harlow celebrates tenth birthday: Thank you for looking in

News / Sat 1st Jul 2023 at 10:02am

YOUR Harlow has reached the ripe old age of ten.

It is quite a milestone for our digital newspaper.

In ten years, we have published over 30,000 stories. We have had 23 million page views.

Our work has featured on the BBC, Sky and in all major newspapers in the UK and around the world.

We have won multiple awards and been invited to 10 Downing Street as a “local media champion”

But our mantra remains that we just hope that in a hundred years time, our stories may be of some use to those who want to find out a little bit about Harlow between 2013 and 2023.

We began the century with three Harlow newspapers. They have all gone but we remain committed to chronicling the life of the ever growing town.

We would like to thank the Carnegie Trust who in 2013, awarded us a grant as part of their Neighbourhood News competition.

We would like to thank all those who have supported us.

We would like thank all our advertisers and sponsors.

We may have interviewed many many important people, landed dozens of scoops, with stories that have gone global but we always remember that our most popular film on our YouTube channel is a Vauxhall Zafira on fire on Second Avenue. Sort of keeps you grounded.

This editor is aware of the challenges facing the town. We often say our site looks at: 1847, 1947 and 2047.

This reporter writes less for his generation and more for his four grandchildren.

How long will YH run for. As long as there are people looking in. We will be there.

Thanks again.

Many congratulations! Your Harlow has developed into the ‘go to’ source for local news, not only covering the essential and important news but also supporting multiple community events and even reporting the more extraordinary and quirky. And how can we forget the much anticipated annual April Fools stories! YH is a vital part of the fabric of our town, here’s to many more years.

Thank you for all the articles you published on me- Even the BGT one, where trolls and nasty people acted like I’d committed an awful crime, when I only performed on the palladium. Thank you for publishing all my charity events I put on in Harlow to help the community and thank you for interviewing me ten years ago when I did my first ever Edinburgh fringe one woman show. I have since then won three awards and laurels from film festivals . Two best comedy and one original screeen play. My comedy film is being shown in Rome at the moment and all over the world, they love humble working class Harlow comedy around the world. My short comedy film, Will he shown at Edinburgh fringe this year every night at 10pm for free . Again, thank you for helping me cast my comedy on here when you put out an article that I was casting local actors and comedians for my film. You helped me cast my film by doing that, I really appreciate this. You do fantastic work in the community and I applaud your work. Thank you so much and well done on your ten year anniversary. Happy birthday Your Harlow.Com ❤️ xxx
