UP AND coming boxer, Francis Wright has been named Boxer of the Year by Harlow Boxing Club.

Chairman and club coach Kevin Wotton said: ‘The dedication, passion, and hard work of the men and women who step into the ring, those of you who represent true spirit of boxing. As your coaches, we are humbled and honored to stand here to present the “Boxer of the Year” award.

Throughout this year, we have witnessed incredible displays of courage, skill, and determination from all the fighters in this room. Each of them has shown us what it truly means to be a boxer—facing challenges head-on, never backing down, and pushing beyond their limits to achieve greatness.

Tonight, however, we come together to recognize one exceptional individual who has risen above the rest, both inside and outside the ring. This boxer has not only demonstrated exceptional athletic prowess but has also been an ambassador for our sport—a true role model for aspiring young fighters men and women everywhere.

Their journey has been filled with highs and lows, victories and setbacks, but through it all, they have remained unwavering in their commitment to succcess. They have taught us that true champions are not only measured by the number of titles they hold but by the strength of their character and the impact they make on those around them.

As a coach, I have had the privilege to witness their growth, not only as fighters but as individuals. They have shown incredible discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship, inspiring not just their teammates but everyone in the boxing community.

To the Boxer of the Year, I want to say this: You have earned this award through your unwavering dedication, relentless pursuit of greatness, and the countless hours you have spent honing your craft. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and you have proven that with hard work and heart, anything is possible.

But let us also remember that behind every successful fighter stands a team of supporters—family, friends, trainers, and mentors—who have played an instrumental role in shaping your journey. Tonight, let us not only celebrate you but also acknowledge and thank all those who have been a part of your success.

As you continue your journey in the world of boxing, may you keep striving for excellence, both inside and outside the ring. Your achievements can inspire the next generation to aim higher, work harder, and never lose sight of those dreams.

Champions are rare to come by, you have proved yourself and deserve to be in amongst the best by achieving champion status in less than 10 fights. You will go on next season to achieve further success.
