Harlow Palestine Solidarity host vigil outside council offices

OVER 100 people attended a vigil organised by Harlow Palestine Solidarity campaign on Friday night.
A spokesperson said: “The event was both powerful and emotional with some attendees brought to tears. There were powerful contributions from two local Palestinians who reiterated their pride in flying their flag in spite of the threats of Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
Speakers commended the bravery shown by those attending in the face of government attacks on the Palestine Solidarity movement.
“However, this pales in comparison to the bravery of the people of Gaza. Israel has killed thousands of people including hundreds of children and 1 million people have been displaced. They are without food, water and electricity but still they resist.
Speakers also called out the hypocrisy of our government who rushed to the aid of Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion but sent a warship to assist Israel’s bombing campaign.
“All those attending were determined to keep putting pressure on our government. The people of Palestine need us to raise our voices to stop this massacre.
The people of Harlow let the people of Gaza know that they are not alone.
The event finished with some powerful chanting including:
“Gaza Gaza don’t you cry
We will never let you die”
“We will also be sending a delegation to the national demonstration in London today (Saturday 21 October)”.
