Harlow rail station car park to be upgraded

| WORK is about to start to upgrade rail station car parks across East Anglia to keep them looking smart and welcoming to station users. Greater Anglia will carry out works to repair potholes, apply new markings, and repair tarmac surfaces at 19 station car parks across its network. The station car parks being upgraded are Althorne, Beccles, Billericay, Clacton-on- Sea, Colchester, Diss, Harlow Town, Herford East, Hockley, Marks Tey, North Fambridge, Rayleigh, Rochford, Sawbridgeworth, Shenfield, Shippea Hill, Southminster, Weeley and Wickford. Work will begin at the majority of these stations in November, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said, “It is really important that our car parks are maintained to a high standard so that we meet the expectations of our customers by providing them with excellent facilities. “I am pleased that these upgrades are taking place and I hope that our hard work will make a real difference for users. “During the upgrades, we will do everything we can to minimise inconvenience to car park and station users and we will endeavour to keep noise and disturbance to our neighbours to a minimum.” |

While your at it make pick up and drop off easier, drop the reserved parking bays (under used, badly marked and waste of space), make parking free for rail users (like Asda system in the Water Gardens) and provide far more and more secure bike parking. Currently payment machines fail and the charges on the car park push rail users to park in local residential streets much to the inconvenience of residents. PS keep ticket offices staffed and re open those at stations like Harlow Mill where passengers are vulnerable to loitering louts.

Need to inforce the double yellows around harlow Station 1st its a bloody nightmare 😫 trying to get around ... make it so no one can park down there only taxis and buses plenty of parking around the side of the flats/hotel .......

Anon the island in the middle needs to be removed, it would allow 2 lanes of moving traffic and they could put a parking area in - although people would still abuse it!

Why is a maintenance and restore programme headline news? Are we to “rejoice” that Greater Anglia are embarking on a limited programme of repairs to facilities they extract a heavy toll for using?? Have we got to a stage where essential repairs and maintenance of an estate to serve the public which is separately charged warrants huge public announcements?

Before you do anything to the carpark you need top sort out the problem with people parking on a double yellow with no stopping at anytime signs outside the station, every day its the same old issue, between 7am - 9.30am and again at 5.30pm-8pm its a total nightmare, cars parked along the whole road, even around the roundabout waiting to pick someone up or drop off causing a mass of traffic stopping busses doing there job, so many times i have seen fights and rowels because of this, there needs to be a warden on patrol between theses times to stop them stopping on theses no stop zones, as said there's plenty of parking in the carpark to the retail units so no excuse, just laziness DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW i live in the block opposite and have so much trouble getting to my home.

Absolute nightmare around 7-9am and 6-8pm in front of the station, no parking or stopping signs on the post but all ignored, really need to impose fines and get wardens down when its busy, not middle of the day like they do, you can alway park behind the block of flats, there ground and level one, loads of places on the upper level and you can stay there allday and go to work, save you some parking money, if not theres always the ground, loads of places there also, no excuse about parking really
