Investigation launched into animal cruelty in Harlow after dogs taken into care

News / Tue 7th Nov 2023 at 03:19pm

AN investigation is taking place into whether a number of dogs were victims of animal cruelty in Harlow.

YH understands that the animals were removed at the weekend from a property in the Altham Grove area of Harlow.

A spokesperson for Harlow Council said: “We have been made aware of the circumstances regarding the dogs. The RSPCA have been informed and the dogs have been removed and are receiving urgent care.

“Any action taken against a tenant due to animal cruelty would be taken by RSPCA or agencies of that type, as this is not covered within our tenancy agreement”.

YH also asked the RSPCA whether they are investigating a complaint of animal cruelty as detailed above.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “We are always so grateful to people who report suspected animal suffering to us and we would like to reassure people we will always look into and, where necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare.

“We would urge anyone who has any first hand information to contact us on 0300 123 8018, quoting incident 01180407.”

YH understands that the dogs are now in the care of Fripps Farm in Great Dunmow.

Fripps Farm is run by TV personality, Jodi Marsh.

What does that even mean, that the rspca are investigating if the digs were victims of animal cruelty? For one i assume that the dog in the picture is one of the dogs that was removed from the property and i can see the cage is full of feaces and the bowl has no food/ water in it and the dog looks as miserable and sad as is possible. I hope that the poor dog was not kept in that cage 24/7.

You need to contact FRIPPS FARM who have been trying to contact you!!!!!!! You have been misinformed with this story and the the rescue of these digs had nothing to do with the RSPCA but the rescue was done solely by FRIPPS FARM . Please contact them for all the correct information regarding this story.

RSPCA done nothing, even when they knew these dogs were being neglected, they do nothing for animals just take peoples money to line the big man’s pockets. Absolutely disgusting ‘charity’ You need to speak to Jodie Marsh at Fripps Farm, they are the ones that truly care about animals and rescued these dogs. You will loose a lot of respect if you keep this incorrect article up. False information the whole way through.

Im appalled by the lack of action taken by the rspca, im also aware how they did nothing to help these poor dogs. Im just glad that they are now rescued n will be returned to their mum, the rightful owner n animal lover. My heart goes out to her and her poor pups for whay they have been through

It upsets me so much to see so many dogs not getting the right attention when these people are aloud to get them from all sources. A dog should be cared for in the same way as a human, they love you unconditionally & want to stay by your side & be your best friend & yet we still have owners that after the initial buy all goes down hill when the novelty wears off & the bringing up of a pet starts. If you are not prepared to interact with your dog, groom your dog, feed your dog, WALK your dog ,worm, spot on, take your dog to the vet when needed & attend their every need, then YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO OWN ONE. As you obviously are Not worthy of having a pet. I think all the people who do not love & care for their dog 24 hrs a day every day for that dogs life in the way they should be kept should have the exact horrible treatment that they give to these poor pets who don't understand what they have done to deserve your gruelty yet still love you unconditionally. We need more people like Jodie. I agree that the RSPCA do not help as they say they will as many occasions I have contacted them & you are past from pillow to post, so these pets suffer longer in the hands of the wrong people. All what's going on around dogs at the moment is NOT the dog or the breeds fault but the way these ignorant people handle them. They use them as their weapons, or a status or look at me & my big aggressive dog. These people are sick in the head & I would love to treat them & beat the shit out of them the way they do this to a dog.

Okay I think we get it that some Jodi rescued them, stop spamming the comments with it, the article does not state “RSPCA” rescued them, it clearly states RSPCA was informed

I would urge anybody to go to Fripps Farm website where you can see Jodie Marsh and her team Stephanie, Jack, Mark etc and their outstanding commitment to animal welfare. The RSPCA were allegedly informed of these poor dogs' circumstances and took no action whatsoever to rescue them and it wasn't until Jodie made their plight public that the RSPCA took action. You should check out her story about Maximus, a 1 yo pony that was brought to her by two girls who found him on the roadside hours from death. Jodie did everything in her power to bring Maximus back to health. If people want to do a good deed today it would really help if you donated to Jodie on the homepage of Fripps Farm's website. Thank you. :-)

So much for being a nation of animal lovers. People who mistreat should get the same treatment they give to their animals but much much worse.

I can’t blame the rspca for the actions of a selfish evil being My experience is that they do act although rather slowly but at least they do their bit remember they don’t get lots and lots of money in their pockets they do what they can the problem is that there should be a law in place that there’s a register and a licence for owning a dog on the first place!! There should be rules in place same for all pets or livestock as they’re not much better either tbh!!

I have a lot of respect for the RSPCA they do alot of good work taking care of all these poor abandoned animals, not forgetting the work they do for wildlife. Its people that neglect and abuse animals that really need to be given much harsher sentences. Dogs are supposed to be man's best friend and are loyal to the end people are the ones who betray their animals and are quick to dump them when the going gets tough, instead of finding them a new home,it's now the RSPCA'S job to clean up their mess, shame on anyone who has done this cruel dead.

The rspca were informed about these dogs and done nothing to help them, so they didnt remove the dogs from the property. Also, the guy at the property now has another puppy there, rspca now need to step up and prosecute and do their job, as the state of the dogs were in, it has taken months and months for them to be in that state, its not just happened in weeks.

RSPCA is not what it used to be, having become too politically motivated. They are somewhat tardy and slow to act in some cases but they do as some good work too. Absolutely agreed that some people should not have animals, nor children for that matter as these are also neglected. I don't know Jodie Marsh, but good on you girl

I have tried twice to ask for help from the RSPCA. Once for a horse left to starve in a field and once when owners moved out of a house and left 2 dogs behind with no water or food for days in very hot weather. Both times they didn’t want to know. Can’t stand the RSPCA would not donate a penny to them. Their tv program is not true to what really happens in their organisation.

I rang the RSPCA about a fox that was left for dead near a car park from me. A women from t.e RSPCA said she couldn't do anything because she was on her own in the office and couldn't send someone out. So I rang the local vet they didn't want to know either.yet my work colleague pays 10 pounds a month to the RSPCA. It makes you wonder where all the money is going.?

Let's be clear Jodie marsh had no involvement in the actual rescue of these dogs. Jodie is actually the instigator in a hate campaign against the ladies who actually rescued the poor dogs Jodie one again after her five minutes of fame. She also needs to be investigated by the RSPCA
