AN exciting plan to refurbish, redecorate and revitalise Registration Offices across Essex is underway.
Virtually all Essex residents have or will use Registration Offices at some point in their lives – whether to register a birth, a death or to give a notice of marriage or civil partnership.
They are places where milestones are marked, and Essex Registration Service is keen to ensure that residents feel welcomed, comfortable and confident when visiting.
To bring a consistently high standard to the county’s Registration Service, Essex County Council will be investing in offices across Essex.
This will see them undergo a face-lift, with new comfortable seating, improved technology and signage all being installed.
The Registration Offices being upgraded are:
The new colour scheme for the offices is based around nature. This reflects scientific studies that show the viewing of plant colours is associated with feelings such as calmness, comfort and serenity. It is hoped these colours in the offices will have a positive impact on relaxation and people’s emotional state.
Councillor Mark Durham, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for The Arts, Heritage and Culture, said: “This is a much-welcome programme of improvements that will bring real benefits to Essex residents.
“The Registration Service is a hugely important service which is here to support residents at every stage of their lives and the offices they visit need to reflect that.
“These upgrades will make the offices more welcoming and comfortable, which will in turn have a positive impact on both visitors and staff.”
The last time such a huge change was made to the Registration Offices was when they moved from Town Halls to Libraries in 2015. This helped maximise their availability to the general public.
