Junior doctors set to stage further strikes this month after rejecting new pay offer

JUNIOR doctors in England have announced new strike dates in the run up to Christmas as the bitter pay dispute continues reports the Mirror.

Strikes will take place from 7am on December 20th to 7am on December 23rd – and from 7am on January 3 to 7am on January 9, the British Medical Association said.

It comes after five weeks of talks with the Government failed to resolve the deadlock.

BMA junior doctors committee co-chairs Dr Robert Laurenson and Dr Vivek Trivedi said: “It is a great shame that even though the approach was more constructive, there was not enough on offer to shape a credible deal, which we hoped would end the dispute. Without enough progress by the deadline, we have no choice but to take action that demonstrates doctors are as determined as ever in reversing their pay cuts.

However, we can still avoid the need for these strikes. We will be ready and willing any time the Government wants to talk. If a credible offer can be presented the day before, or even during any action, these strikes can be cancelled.”

When front line workers have to strike, you really need to look at the government. This government can house and pay illegal immigrants, but it can’t pay these precious people what they are worth!
