You know this disgusting government is nearing its end when the immigration minister states that migrates are breaking into this country. Does this disgraceful language excite you, encourage you, upsets you or makes you angry? After thirteen years of this pathetic rhetoric from a government of incompetents and liars would you vote for them next year? I hope not. But would you vote for the alternative? No me neither! Indeed the current language of Mr. Starmer suggests nothing would fundamentally change from the current rubbish. Clement Attlee and Nye Bevan would be turning in their graves who in six years did actually radically change the lives for the many.

We definitely need tougher immigration rules. We cannot sustain current levels, you only need to visit the town centre to see that. They also need to raise minimum wage and employers need to pay wages people can actually live on rather than relying on imported labour who are prepared to live in substandard conditions to send money home. Rely on imported labour to prop up businesses who can't or won't pay a decent wage is no answer. Scrap zero hour contracts. Make university affordable so young people are attracted to work in sectors that rely on out of country labour. And so on. I don't know how this is going to get sorted this country is in a massive mess now. I think we all know by now the promises made on the run up to an election are just vote grabbing hot air

Dear Resident, Though I agree with much of what you say, I don’t think you can blame the immigrants for the state of Harlow. Harlow’s problems stem from the fact that it has a higher proportion of Council Housing than almost anywhere else in the country - Problems are exacerbated by government policies which allow Ex Council Stock to be turned into HMOs and disused offices to be turned into human warehouses. Wealthier areas decant their unwanted residents to Harlow - Those they shift to Harlow are both immigrants and indigenous. Though Harlow will never be like Chelmsford or St Albans or Cambridge, where companies actually want to locate and will always be resilient upon government handouts, maybe, just maybe, a few more immigrants, who are willing to travel halfway across the world for a better life for their children might lead to a better town than a population who think achievement is getting their name on the council house waiting list.

The Conservative party were elected on a manifesto promise to cut immigration that was 13 years ago, talk is very cheap, what voters want is clear direct action and sooner rather than later, the problem is Labour would be far worse on controlling immigration!

David I'm not blaming immigration on the state of Harlow, but it's extremely obvious the population of the tiwn has masdively changed. As has been said here over and over we simply don't have the resources for this explosion in population. Harlow used to be a thriving town with great employment opportunities. I know industry has changed and the variety of jobs have disappeared driving most people with highly sought after skill sets to towns and cities where the work is. The loss of nortel and GSK were massive blows to the town and they've only been replaced by warehouses and data centres that don't employ large numbers of well paid skilled workers. The town has definitely gone backwards with low paid workers forced to rely on social housing and very few opportunities locally to get out of that cycle. The more the town degenerates the less hope and drive people have. Like I said in my comment, the problem is massive

Very well expressed Resident I think all parties in the past were far too Liberal when it came to immigration - I remember hearing Labour politicians saying that immigration was good because immigrants paid more in taxes than they claimed it benefits, as if there were no other matrices that mattered - They didn’t take account of the strains on our social infrastructure and they didn’t think about the strains on the social fabric of communities. I guess that's why we now have people like awful people like Farage and others with appalling motives. I’m not entirely comfortable with the speed that Harlow has changed, but every day at work I listen to really thick people, with ill informed views on immigration, who after voting for Brexit and for Boris Johnson think that things will get better if they vote for Reform!!!! I jump on anyone who mentions immigration and I shouldn’t - and you weren’t blaming the immigrants for the mess that this town finds itself in.

David, I assume you’ve been blessed with wealthy parents or good health so you achieved what you wanted in life and bought a lovely private home. Not all of us are that lucky. Not everyone is as favoured and lucky as you , some of us have no choice but to live in a council home when we would love to live in a detached house away from noise and drug dealers, ex offenders and problem people, it wasn’t my ambition to live in a council home , Infact the complete opposite . Bet you sleep at night loving yourself at how lucky you are, not all of us are that lucky as you.

Ps: Nigel farage is the only one who speaks the truth and that’s why nobody likes him.

Also: how do most of these people get through our system? People are obviously not doing their jobs correctly as there are too many people here now and the government has let us down. This government need to focus on cutting immigration and controlling the population, opposed to attacking the disabled and the elderly. Get your priorities right , or you are going to lose the election.

Sallykemp - Are you saying that people who live in Council House are drug dealers, ex offenders and problem people or that immigrants are drug dealers, ex offenders and problem people?
