Labour’s Chris Vince: Worried about immigration? Then whatever you do don’t vote Conservative!

News / Tue 12th Dec 2023 at 11:09am

THE Labour parliamentary candidate for the next General Election has called the Conservative government’s policy on immigration “chaotic and heartless”

Chris Vince said: “Who wasn’t shocked to learn this week that the Government had spent nearly £300m on their failed Rwanda scheme. In fairness they have managed to send three undesirable people there, Priti Patel, Liz Truss and James Cleverly, but they all came back. It’s another example of the Conservative failure to govern and their waste of tax payers money.

It’s not just chaotic, it also illustrates their heartlessness. The backlog of asylum seekers waiting to be processed is £165k people, up from only 20K in 2010. Some asylum seekers are forced to wait up to 4 years for their application to be processed. Its these unbelievable delays that are costing the taxpayer £8.5m a day, as the Home Office are forced into housing people trapped in limbo in hotels. Even since Sunak promised to end asylum hotels, their use has gone up by a quarter. While convictions of people trafficking by criminal gangs has gone down by 36% since Labour were in power.

Labour will invest in stronger border security, tracking down and convicting criminal gangs. Labour will introduce a cross border police unit, stopping boats before they set out. Labour will clear the backlog of claims, settling those migrants that are genuine so they can work and contribute to the economy. Labour will end the salary discount that allows some employers to pay migrant labour 20% less than their British workmates. Labour will cooperate with nations across Europe and beyond to seek new agreements on returns.

How will this be paid for? No longer throwing good money after bad on a Rwanda scheme that is doomed to fail, and no longer having to pay for hotel accommodation will save the government billions.

“The UK needs a government that will tackle the issues with policies based in realism rather than Tory gimmicks and scapegoating. Policies that recognise and value the skills of those migrants we urgently need now; care workers, nurses, doctors, teachers, while investing in training of our own workforce. Policies that are humanitarian and offer asylum for those that are genuine. While the Conservatives are wasting time fighting amongst themselves, the crisis deepens and only a Labour government is grown up enough to deal with it’.

Dear Cllr Vince, Good attempt! I am sure the hard working people of harlow are not disillusioned to vote a candidate who neglected them and lost when running for MP in Colchester; Whom also, was reluctantly given the position to run as the labour MP candidate by his dysfunctional party. My worry and concern is that Labour takes for granted the hardworking people of this country by pretending to be the party of the working class yet instead it is the very party which oppresses them with their good intentions costing fortunes , having no plan , and their obsession to taxing the rich and having no capacity to manage or create realistic economic benefits to the British people. WORRIED ABOUT IMMIGRATION? Then do not vote goody do good labour with many good intentions without a plan, thinking throwing more money to problems solve problems or picket lines protest which affects the ordinary hard working class Brit. We need to take back control of our boarders as that is what is costing and affecting services all across the country not the Tory government. We need to ensure we protect and give BRITISH PEOPLE the quality services they deserve without fear or judgement and branding of racism when addressed. Why is Labour not proactive with immigration or backing stop the illegal boat crossing which not only endangers people’s lives but costing the tax payer £8 million daily? Perhaps it is because your party Cllr Vince created the immigration issue and that those somewhat left winged human protection lawyers making fortunes costing the hard working class Brit via people whom are blatantly misusing the British systems. It goes without saying that Labour will do anything to the detriment of Britain just to win votes as they oppose and sabotage every attempt to reduce illegal immigration’s and false asylum claim. And should a logical argument be raised than those raising them as branded to be racist. I am???????? I am fully convinced and in support for tougher immigration policies and stopping the boats. My children and that of many Brits are deprived in education, healthcare , housing because good intentions are been abused and misused. So if anyone is worried about immigration , and wasting money then they can not vote wasteful labour whom left Harlow in decline a disgraceful state.

Ps: I forgot to mention “GREAT PHOTO” Reminds me of the national trend the Tory administration created in gaining a seat here in harlow which clearly show change is here so why risk it and resurrect those who left Harlow in a shambles.

Very difficult to see the difference between Labour and the Tories when it comes to immigration, the only difference is the Tories pretend to be tough whilst Labour openly admit they would not control immigration https://labourhub.org.uk/2023/03/14/time-to-stand-together-against-hate-and-say-refugees-welcome-here/

Oh dear Councillor Seales................quote: "We need to ensure we protect and give BRITISH PEOPLE the quality services they deserve". Try telling the staff, parents and pupils of SFG that!! Yes, your government DfE is responsible for that shambles, and it still continues. Quote: "My children and that of many Brits are deprived in education, healthcare , housing because good intentions are been abused and misused", well who's fault is that? its not happened overnight. How long have we had a conservative government? The answer is YOURS. So I agree with Chris Vince.

Can I just ask a question or two. My understanding is that you should claim asylum in the first safe country you enter. So are these people sailing around France to land in the uk or are they saying the cou tries of Europe are not safe? And if this will be paid for by not spending money on things. Will this argument hold true, or will the hardworking people, pensioners be taxed to cover the cost as usual?

We should not be forced to rely on imported labour. Pay decent wages, improve working condictions, scrap zero hour contracts, reduce the cost of university, improve schools, it's a joke of a system when care workers earn better money working in supermarkets.

The solution to immigration is simple. If all these people want to be British and we don’t have the resources/ infrastructure in this country to support them, then why not take Britain to them. Rebuild the empire.( tongue firmly in cheek). In life there are rarely simple solutions to complex problems, but we all expect to see are simple solutions. “ vote for me and I will make all your dreams come true”

Mr Vince. 2 of the 3 MPs you mentioned who went to Rwanda, that you was upset that came back , are of darker skin. What are we meant to read into that comment.
