Emergency service issue advice as very strong winds hit Harlow

News / Tue 2nd Jan 2024 at 05:39pm

Statement from Essex Police

AS a result of the stormy weather, we’d ask you to consider if you need to travel this evening.
Weather warnings showing strong winds and heavy rain means that unnecessary travel should be limited, to ensure your safety.

We will continue to patrol across the county as usual, but if your journey can wait until another time, please do not drive tonight.

In the meantime, if you do need to drive, check your car before setting off to make sure your lights, hazard lights, indicators, windscreen wipers etc are working.

Drive slowly and carefully so that you can see any hazards ahead.

Do not drive through flood water, in case it is deeper than you realise.

Be aware that road closures may be put in place due to fallen trees and debris, meaning you may have to return home.

In an emergency call 999.
