Transport for London fares to be frozen until next year

News / Sat 20th Jan 2024 at 11:13am

TRANSPORT for London (TfL) fares will be frozen until March next year, Sadiq Khan has announced reports LBC.

The Labour mayor of London, who chairs TfL, said he “wasn’t prepared to stand by” while passengers pay more for public transport.

Susan Hall, his Conservative opponent in May’s mayoral election, described the policy as a “last roll of the dice”.

The freeze will apply to pay-as-you-go fares for bus, Tube, DLR and tram journeys, and the majority of those fares for London Overground and Elizabeth line trips.

Sadiq Khan is always claiming that city hall is underfunded yet he has managed to find £123 million to freeze certain fares, and by the same token he is raising Council Tax by a staggering 8% More Smoke and Mirrors politics he has obviously been taking lessons from the conservative party.
