Athletics:Super Catherine breaks long standing Vet record for 10 miles

HARLOW Running and Tri Club contested the third race of the East Herts/West Essex Cross Country League at Newport, near Saffron Walden, over a 4.3 mile course around fields of Essex & Cambridgeshire borders.

At the time of writing the team positions were not available.

In the Women’s race Terri Wiley finished in a fantastic 2nd place out of 68 finishers in a time of 31min 13sec. She was followed home by Donna Milton in 14th place in 35.26, Linda Helm-Manley 20th in 36.04 and Allison Beeton 21st in 36.06. 

In the Men’s race Rob Lowe finished in 6th place out of 95 finishers in an excellent 26min 35sec. Martyn Coulter was 16th in 28.46, Kirk Crudgington 22nd in 29.21 and Ryan Smith 25th in 29.59.

Meanwhile, at the Bedford 10 mile race Catherine Ridge finished in 57th place out of 377 finishers in a superb 1hr 10min 28sec. This was a PB and a new Female Vet 40 Club Record which has stood since 1992. 

At the Essendon 10 km race Natalie Thornton finished in 59th place out of 187 finishers and 3rd Female Vet 50 in a PB time of 50min 55sec. This came a day after achieving a 5k parkrun at Harlow parkrun. 

Alison Beeton finished in 68th place out of 236 finishers in the Gunpowder parkrun, at Waltham Abbey, in a new 5k Female Vet 55 Club Record of 23min 08sec.

There were 5k PBs at Harlow parkrun for Natalie Thornton, finishing in 94th place out of 291 finishers in 26.38 and John Taylor 133rd in 29.00.  

At Storeys Field parkrun in Cambridge Jack Shury finished in 9th place out of 450 finishers in an excellent PB time of 17.31.
