Sheep Shearer, Public Consultation

The Purple Emperor, Burgoyne Hatch, Harlow CM20 3EH

Tuesday 9 April 5pm – 7pm

NEXT week at The Purple Emperor Pub you can meet members of the Harlow Art Trust team, Toni Frostick, Jenny Lushington and Jenny Organ as part of the Public Consultation on relocating Sheep Shearer.

Currently based next to the boxing club on Momples Road, Sheep Shearer has sadly had to be fenced off due to deliberate damage to it in 2022. One solution is to relocate Sheep Shearer to the green space on Harefield, just a short walk from its present location. Being close to the shops and in a busier location would act as a deterrent for further damage and being in a more visible location also means it could be enjoyed by more of the neighbourhood.

The Harlow Art Trust Team have reached out to residents at Momples Road and Harefield and are still looking for feedback from other residents of Harlow.

"Being close to the shops and in a busier location would act as a deterrent for further damage" Or it could give the opportunity for more damage? Being in a "busier location" where undesirable people hang around the shops, and right by a pub, how long before a drunk local tries to "ride" the sheep... or worse.
