Plans to convert former Churchgate Hotel in flats rejected by planning committee.

PLANS FOR the conversion of the former Churchgate Hotel into eleven residential flats were rejected by the Harlow Council planning committee.

A number of Old Harlow residents spoke at the meeting and expressed their concerns over flooding in the area.

The application was for the conversion of the hotel into 11 residential flats as well as four single storey dwellings.

So local people would rather see it go to rack and ruin. What would they rather was done with it

Totally agree Peter. This is a case of NIMBY. The same didn't happen for the high rise apartment block at Wych Elm last week ot course. A disgrace

I agree with the above comments, the proposed convention of the hotel to flats would not have adversely affected anyone, where as the proposed apartment blocks in Wych Elm will most definitely have a negative effect on the residents of Rectory Wood, I would be very surprised if the values of property were not effected, it is obvious to everyone that residents of the proposed flats will end up parking in Rectory Wood due to the lace of available parking within the proposed developments, and just as working is the negative effect on the wild life that inhabit Rectory Wood itself.
