A WELL-used outdoor space for people recovering from homelessness in Harlow has been transformed thanks to the generosity of local organisations and businesses.
Streets2Homes has expressed its sincere thanks to Rainbow Services’ Young People’s Project and Ascend Roofing for their outstanding work in refurbishing a pergola at one of its supported accommodation properties.

The pergola provides residents with a safe and welcoming space to relax, socialise and build positive relationships. After falling into disrepair, the structure has now been restored to a high standard, ensuring it can continue to support residents’ wellbeing.
Young people from Rainbow Services played a key role in repairing the structure, gaining valuable practical experience while making a meaningful contribution to their community.
Jason Shaves, Youth Project Manager from Rainbow Services said:
“This project gave our young people a great opportunity to develop new skills while giving something back locally. Knowing the pergola supports people rebuilding their lives makes it especially rewarding.”
Ascend Roofing then completed the project by replacing the pergola roof at no cost, delivering a professional, high-quality finish that ensures the space is fully weatherproof.
Tommy Judd business owner of Ascend Roofing said:
“We were delighted to support Streets2Homes. It’s important for us to give back locally, and we’re proud to have helped create a safe, durable space residents can enjoy.”
Kerrie Eastman, CEO of Streets2Homes, added:
“We are incredibly grateful for this support. The pergola provides a vital space for residents to relax and feel part of a community, and the quality of the work has been exceptional.”
The newly restored pergola is now being enjoyed by residents, highlighting the impact of strong local partnerships in supporting people to rebuild their lives.
