POLICE are advising motorists to avoid the M25 following a collision anti-clockwise between junctions 28 and 27. A collision between a motorcycle and an articulated lorry occurred just before 7.30am this morning, Thursday, July 18.

Teen arrested over Church Langley indecent assault

A 16-year-old boy from Harlow has been arrested in connection with two sexual assaults in Kiln Lane, Harlow. The boy was arrested in Harlow at 7.50pm last night, Wednesday, July 17, on suspicion of sexual assault by touching in connection with the incidents on Monday, July 15. He remains in custody this morning, Thursday.

Athletics: Feltsted 10K not for the faint-hearted

SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members competed in the Essex 10K Road Championships held on a gently undulating course at Felsted on what was a very warm Sunday morning. In fact the conditions were so hot that there were no personal best times for the distance for any Harlow runner, which is not usually the case on this benign course.

Cash boost for Home-Start Harlow

ESSEX County Council has announced a new round of grants being awarded under the Family Innovation Fund 2. Nineteen grants, totalling £409,235 have been awarded to 13 voluntary and community sector organisations working across Essex. Funding is for the year from August 2013 to the end of July 2014.

Cricket: Coleman on fire (again!) in duel in the sun

Charlie Coleman (picture attached) came to the crease to join Shiraz Ali and the pair put on a batting master class. With some huge sixes from Charlie and cultured drives from Shiraz, the pair put on over 200 run partnership. Shiraz eventually retired ill on 75. Coleman kept going and was eventually bowled for 181 and what is believed to be a club league record. Town declared on 304.

Mass exodus of staff from Mark Hall after another woeful Ofsted

OVER FIFTEEN members of staff are set to leave Mark Hall as the school year draws to a close on Friday.
The school have ended the year with another woeful report from Ofsted that leaves them still in special measures. But the school, under new ownership through the Academy Transformation Trust, will start the new academic year in September, hoping to literally transform itself.

Two women indecently assaulted in Church Langley

POLICE are looking to identify a man who indecently assaulted two young women in Harlow in the space of a few hours. Both sexual assaults took place on Kiln Lane in the Church Langley area of the town on Monday, July 15, with the first happening at 12:30pm. A man ran up behind an 18-year-old woman and touched her breast before running off again.

Ambulance service appoint two interim non-executive directors

THE NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA) has today confirmed the appointment of Sheila Childerhouse and Frances Pennell-Buck as interim non-executive directors of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Dr Geoff Harris, interim chair of the Trust said: “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint two hugely experienced and successful non-executive directors. The skills and experience both Sheila and Frances bring will help continue to drive the service forward as we maintain a relentless focus on improving services to patients.”

EVEN IN OUR first three weeks as an on-line newspaper, we have come to appreciate that the arts organisations are the epitome of the word: “symbiotic”. We are sure that it is not always sweetness and light and they may fall out occasionally but, so far, the vibe we receive, is that there is a hell of a lot of hard work going on to help the Harlow arts community and indeed, Harlow in general.

YH dipped into the newsletter from the MHP to see them reflect on the show and see what is in store for next year. A spokesperson said: “If you missed it, you missed a GREAT show – and we have Mr Mortimer-Smith’s confirmation of that. We were surprised and very pleased when he came to see us. Thanks, too, to three night’s great audiences – you made our week. It’ll take a few days for some of the company to float down from the ceiling.

Wixon leaves the Hawks

HARLOW TOWN have confirmed that Piers Wixon won’t be re-signing for the Hawks for the forthcoming season. After a recent holiday and talks with various clubs, Wixon has decided to join another Ryman Division One North club.

Five paddling pools open all summer in Harlow!

HARLOW Council’s paddling pools are open from this Saturday (July 20) until Sunday, September 1. The town’s five council-run paddling pools are at Bush Fair, Norman Booth, Staple Tye, Sumners and Town Park with a splash park at Potter Street.

Jocelyn’s death: No longer suspicious

FOLLOWING a post-mortem examination on the body of a woman found at an address in Harlow officers have ruled the death is no longer suspicious. A 25-year-old woman was found dead at a property in Jocelyns just after 1pm on Sunday, July 14.
