A HARLOW gym owner has been fined for keeping her business open against government rules during lockdown.
Michelle Meade-Wyatt, 46, from Lydiate, Merseyside, admitted keeping The Ripped Gym in Wych Elm, Harlow, open in November last year.
She was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay costs at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.
A charge of causing criminal damage was dismissed and another of failing to comply with a reasonable requirement direction was withdrawn.
Ten fixed penalty notice tickets were given to people in the gym in November 2020 and Harlow Council had issued a prohibition order requiring it to close.
Essex was in England tier two restrictions during that time, which meant gyms were banned from operating.
What a pathetic sanction. The courts are not supporting the Police here. I wonder how many deaths this selfish woman's actions have played a part in. Shut the place down permanently if the owner is going to ignore public health and safety.
Bet she is laughing her socks off, All the free publicity for a grand fine, The courts are too lenient and need a overhaul. HR, Can you explain what the hell you are on about.
humanrights another antivaxer/anti lockdown nut job, so the nurses & doctors are to blame for the covid deaths, you really have no idea, do you get your views off social media by any chance.
HR proberly another one that wont have the vaccine because it effects his/hers human rights, some people are so selfish!!
Zone gym in London got theirs thrown out entirely. The costs were £105 I don't know anyone that has died of or with covid and I own 2 gyms. Remember to keep yourself fit and healthy.
Oh and as for the member fines. We got those paid. The members paid nothing.
